2021 The Barrel Climber Sauvignon Blanc

2021 The Barrel Climber

Sauvignon Blanc

SONOMA COASTsonoma county

SPECIAL: $39.00
RETAIL: $52.00

TASTING NOTES
Explosively aromatic and opulently textured, we feel that this wine reaches the heights that California Sauvignon Blanc can achieve.

Barrel fermented and then aged for 18 months (only 5% new), the French oak not only supports the exotic tropical perfume from the heady Rauscedo clone planted at Drystack vineyard, but it helped develop an amazing amount of succulent mouthfeel. Guava, passionfruit, lychee, and pink grapefruit ride endlessly on the nose and palate. It will easily go toe to toe with a bold Chardonnay in terms of richness while being playfully unique at the same time.

Usual disclaimer for this cuvée: Try not to think of this Sauvignon Blanc as a simple Wednesday night sipper. For sure, you can happily drink it as a cocktail, but don’t hesitate to serve it with typically wine-challenging cuisines: Asian, Latin American, you name it. This wine will handle both intense flavors and special occasions!

Also, consider socking some away in the cellar for future glory. We’ve been delighted with the bottles we’ve been able to squirrel away over the years.
