“I love collecting things that carry history.
Old letters, buttons, texts, stamps, bits and scraps of fabric all find their way into my collages. What interests me, I think, is the history each separate part brings to the whole, the surprising juxtapositions.

In my abstract paintings, there is a pull and tug between forces:
disorder and entropy countered by balance and structure —
a tangle and chaos of vines intermixed with off kilter, tenuously balanced
blocks and small hopeful symbols of structure: a seed pod, a bud, a branch.

I hope they convey the feeling I have when I make them — the feeling a child
has while stacking up books and blocks and toys into a tower: the nervous
breath-held happiness of precarious swaying balance.

In addition to my abstract and collage work, I am a narrative figurative
painter and children's book illustrator.”
