2021 The Pianist Pinot Noir

2021 The Pianist

Pinot Noir

PETALUMA GAPsonoma county

SPECIAL: $49.00
RETAIL: $60.00

TASTING NOTES

Always a crucial component of our various cuvées, every few years Grand Vent reveals its full potential and gifts us raw material so delicious and complete we can’t ignore the call to bottle it separately. This vintage, Hanna was particularly drawn to a pair of stand-out puncheons from this oft-favorite site and the 2021 Pianist was born.

Buffeted by winds drawn from the Pacific, Grand Vent lies in the chilly western slice of the Petaluma Gap. Harvest can be a true nail biter since the climate often pushes harvest well into October. The upside is extended hang time and slow ripening, ultimately coaxing maximum character at modest sugar levels.

Centered around a sexy core of creamy, ripe red cherry, boysenberry and cassis, the fruit flows seamlessly with the exotic aromas (typical Grand Vent) of sandalwood, cedar, clean pipe tobacco and rose that lead to a long, elegantly structured finish.

We do our best to honor the precious fruit in the cellar with gentle handling, raising the juice in our favorite low-impact oak puncheons matched specifically to Sonoma Coast Pinot to offer the purest and most complete expression of this special place. Yum, just pure yum.
