2021 Sangiacomo Green Acres Chardonnay

2021 Sangiacomo Green Acres

Chardonnay

SONOMA COASTsonoma county

SPECIAL: $39.00
RETAIL: $54.00

TASTING NOTES

While our Luke’s Grove Chardonnay is unmistakably (and proudly) Californian in spirit, our Green Acres bottling keeps one foot firmly in the old world. The cooler vineyard combined with the acid-driven Hyde clone (a cousin of Old Wente) naturally produces wine with both plenty of muscle and not an ounce of unnecessary fat.

Very little new oak is needed to evolve the wine, so we largely employ older puncheons for raising Green Acres in the cellar. What goes into bottle is all-natural power with plenty of vibrant acidity.

Green-gold in the glass, it’s a lemon curd monster. Flinty on the nose with loads of green apple, pear, and quince on the palate. The finish is long and dry and mouth-wateringly refreshing, vibrant and energetic.

We make this wine largely for ourselves since it really floats our stylistic boat. And as you might expect, it grows creamier and more spacious with age. So drink up young and fresh, then drink up again when older and more evolved. It’s a win-win all around!
