2018 The Barrel Climber Sauvignon Blanc

2018 The Barrel Climber - 26 bottles found in cellar

SONOMA COASTsonoma county

ALLOCATION LIST: $46.80

We love defying expectations with Sauvignon Blanc, and the popularity of our Cuvée Renee seems to indicate that you do too. For our Barrel Climber SB, we take it even further. This wine most definitely goes to 11!

Known for its exotic tropical flavor profile, we selected a block of the Sauvignon musqué clone from Fallenleaf vineyard, gave it some skin contact, lavished it attention, serious winemaking, a super-premium French oak puncheon and a lot of patience.

Straight out of the gate you’ll be greeted with layers of ripe guava, quince and raw honey. Wonderfully full and persistent on the palate this one will go toe to toe with any other noble white wine in terms of sheer deliciousness and complexity. Watch your back, Chardonnay.

Truth be told, this shouldn’t be what you reach for when you want an easy, breezy summer white. Quite the opposite. Bring this out when you need something distinctive… maybe for that special meal (lobster?) or perhaps date night? Whatever you choose, this captivating and unusual white is worthy of celebration. And stash some away for sure… this will age like a champion and provide a decade of absolutely fascinating evolution.
