2011 Sonoma Coast Chardonnay

2011 Sonoma Coast

Chardonnay

SONOMA COUNTY

—  SOLD OUT —

TASTING NOTES

There’s no denying that 2011 was a nail-biter in many Sonoma Coast vineyards, but we couldn’t be more pleased with our finished bottling of Chardonnay. It was a cool year and a long growing season that allowed the grapes to achieve maturity at lower sugar levels with the finished wine clocking in at a natural 13.3% abv.

Native yeast fermentations and 75% neutral oak allow the grapes’ natural character to shine through. In keeping with our Sonoma Coast style, malolactic fermentation was halted about halfway through to preserve and celebrate the wonderful citrus and mineral notes of the wine.

Focused and vibrant, the 2011 packs a punch of lemon curd, lime zest and green apple flavors with remarkable purity. A small amount of toasty, well-integrated oak supports the underlying structure and everything unfolds briskly on the palate with each sip finishing clean and inviting another.

Crisp and delicious now, the wine will take on additional weight and even more complexity over the next 2-4 years.
