2011 Stiling VIneyard Pinot Noir

2011 Stiling Vineyard

Pinot Noir

RUSSIAN RIVERsonoma county

—  SOLD OUT —

TASTING NOTES

Every year Stiling Vineyard produces a spicy and deliciously fruit-forward Pinot that proves a popular favorite with list members and new fans alike. Stiling’s well-drained Goldridge soils and prime central Russian River Valley location allow for optimal ripening, even in the cooler vintages like 2011.

Longtime followers will immediately recognize the layers of ripe, generous fruit intertwined with accents of smoke, cola and baking spices. It’s as gorgeous as ever, yet with more verve and elegance than warmer vintages such as ‘09 and ‘10. Perhaps surprising given its great structure and lively acidity, the wine seems open for business already and is hard to resist. That said, it’s certain reveal its very best over the years to come.

Now the bad news… the combination of 2011’s naturally low yields and painstaking care in the vineyard, along with careful barrel selection for the final blend, resulted in only 149 cases. This will be an exclusive list-member offering (no restaurants or retail stores this year) and is likely to disappear immediately, so we apologize in advance if we run out too soon!
