What's in a name? A Small Town story. When we bottled our 2007 Small Town* Pinot Noir it included the name "Freestone" in place of "Small Town" as a reference to a little town and grape growing area in Western Sonoma County not far from Occidental. We later learned that the word “Freestone” is trademarked as it relates to wine and agreed to change the name. Thus “Small Town” Pinot Noir came to be the new stand-in moniker for the 2007 vintage, as well as the official name of future vintages. It’s the same wine, just by a different name, and one we look forward to producing for many years to come. back to Small Town* Pinot Noir page << previous | next >> |
