Curtis Joneswww.curtisrayjones.comMy art has maintained a fairly steady course since the early 1990’s. My initial influences were psychedelia, punk rock, surrealism, and outsider art. These evolved alongside interests (and studies) in printmaking, paper craft, decoration, and pattern design. Throughout this evolution there has always been a desire to make work that belies and transcends the simplicity of the materials and techniques from which it is created. I base my practice around repetition and try to exploit its overlapping relationships with ritual, meditation, obsession, psychosis, and modernity. I spend the majority of my studio time creating accumulations of unique visual material which I can then bring into the gallery to assemble. This allows me to maintain a practical base in printmaking while exploring elements of sculpture and installation. << previous | next >> |
