Tasting Notes: Only the second vintage of our “Small Town” Pinot Noir – formerly known as the Eric Kent “Freestone” bottling – it has already become one of our favorite wines. Sourced from cooler climate vineyards that allow the grapes to develop flavor and complexity without becoming overripe, this deep ruby-colored wine delivers on every level. The nose exhibits distinctive aromas of bay leaf, black cherry, plum, pine needles and briary earth. The palate provides layer upon layer of fruit and spice, highlighted by pomegranate, strawberry, dark cherry, black tea, nutmeg and cloves. Rich and full, coating every part of the palate with gentle tannins, yet buoyed by wonderful natural acidity and herbal, earthy notes that linger and leave you wanting more. The complexity and balance of this wine make it a natural match for wild mushrooms, grilled meats and fresh herbs.
