Tasting Notes:
2007 was our first vintage working with Pinot Noir from some outstanding vineyards in the small town of Freestone* in Western Sonoma County and we couldn't be more thrilled. Harvest is three to five weeks later than our other sources and berries come in at lower brix with more natural acidity. Medium ruby in color, expressive aromatics of bay leaf, pine needles, ripe strawberry, bright cherry, earth and lavender get things off to a fascinating start. The palate follows through with strawberry, raspberry and cranberry, intermingled with maple and a hint of toffee all supported by well-balanced acidity and a silky, seductive mouth feel.
Our biggest Pinot ever? NO! Our fruitiest? Not exactly. Our most complex? Definitely. Our most complete and interesting? We think so and we absolutely love it. If you enjoy wonderful herbal and earthy nuances to compliment your bold California fruit, then this is a Pinot for you!
