“To make my images I create miniature sets and photograph them. The scenes are made from my imagination, reconstructed and skewed versions of places that have been abandoned but where at one time great care was taken to construct utilitarian and superficial monuments.” Through this process Vanessa is able to create a space of dreams and imagination that is at once real and surreal. We hope you enjoy her work and the wine it adorns as much as we do. |
When you look at Vanessa’s work, you have to ask yourself, “Can I believe my eyes?” What appears to be a photograph of a sweeping landscape or people walking in the mist may really be a product of Vanessa’s imagination. Or more accurately, a carefully created scene using photography, film and miniature figures to represent a combination of real and imagined events.
