Sharon EisleyWhen we asked Sharon to be on Kalen’s Big Boy Syrah, she suggested doing a special painting just for Kalen (our two-year-old son). We said “Oh, you don’t have to do that, but. . . really, you would? That would be great!” Having a two-year-old boy herself, Sharon knew just what questions to ask... nicknames, favorite toys, family lore? And so the story of our “little monkey”... born in the Year of the Monkey... plus Kent’s own childhood nickname “fish boy” (don’t ask!) became a truly distinctive label. Sharon’s paintings meld a unique mix of mediums and cultural influences — watercolor, Chinese Brush painting learned in Taipei, a love for oil paint in all its color and buttery goodness, plus a fascination with the hard edges of wood cut prints. She has devised ways to incorporate them all and for the past three years her works involve cutting into the wood, painting and cutting again, creating a unique depth to her paintings. A uniqueness we’re proud to have on Kalen’s label. |
